MCCA’s Annual Survey of Fortune 1000 Women GCs
MCCA’s Annual Survey of Fortune 1000 Women GCs was issued in the July/August issue of Diversity & the Bar magazine. Unfortunately, we reported decreases in the number of women GCs in the Fortune 500 and the Fortune 501-1000. There are currently 85 in the F500 (down 7 from last year) and 76 in the F501-1000 (down 2 from last year).
This issue of the magazine also includes a feature story about the launch of the Center for Women in Law, and a nice profile piece about the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL). Links are below:

NAWL Committee for Evaluation of Supreme Court Nominees to Consider Judge Sonia Sotomayor
In its statement dated May 5, NAWL called upon President Obama to nominate a woman as the next Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and expressed the hope that the pool of candidates from which the nominee was drawn would include many women of color. (click here for statement). NAWL is pleased that President Obama has selected a woman of color to succeed Associate Justice Souter. During the next few weeks, the NAWL Committee for Evaluation of Supreme Court Nominees will apply the same careful and thoughtful screening process it used to consider the nominations of Justices Roberts and Alito to consider Judge Sonia Sotomayor and issue a statement with its evaluation.
