In 2007, NAWL instated the national Mentor Program to foster social and professional advancement of women lawyers through guidance and support of senior attorneys from a variety of legal fields in order to promote the social, political and professional empowerment of women.
The Mentor Program matches senior lawyer mentors from a variety of legal fields and geographic locations with lawyers who have practiced less than 5 years. Mentors play a central role in the advancement of women in the legal community by providing encouragement, motivation and support.
