Women Lack Key Seats in Delaware Judiciary

Delaware Online reports that "in 1994, when Carolyn Berger was sworn in as the first female justice on the Delaware Supreme Court, she saw herself opening the door for women attorneys to advance to the bench.... Twenty years later, Berger's hope has not been fulfilled. Today, she is the sole female on the high court.... Now that Supreme Court Justice Jack Jacobs has announced he will retire in July, some members of the Delaware bar are wondering if Gov. Jack Markell will appoint a female to join Berger on the high court."

The article goes on to discuss that "the lack of female jurists is particularly glaring when so many Delaware corporations, including DuPont, Gannett, Facebook, Yahoo!, General Motors, Hewlitt-Packard, and PepsiCo, have female chief executives."
