Raychelle Tasher, President of Ms. JD, spoke to Forbes this month about her mentorship relationship with Leslie Richards-Yellen, NAWL's Immediate Past President.

Ms. Tasher, a young attorney whose organization is dedicated to supporting early-career women lawyers, shared her perspective on the what she has learned as Ms. Richards-Yellen's mentee: "The most valuable lesson she has taught me is to be your authentic self. I apply that to everything that I do. In the legal profession, only .64% of partners at law firms are black women and black women make up only 2.32% of law firm associates. The numbers are dismal at best. However, Leslie has taught me that knowing who you are as a woman and as a woman of color in this profession makes all the difference. Her advice has given me the confidence to lead and teach others that same self-belief."
