Marsha Anastasia.JPG

PRESIDENT Marsha L. Anastasia is Vice President, Deputy General Counsel – The Americas at Pitney Bowes Inc. In that capacity, she is responsible for legal affairs of business unit operations in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. Prior to joining Pitney Bowes in 1997, Ms. Anastasia practiced at Day, Berry & Howard (now Day Pitney LLP) in Hartford and Stamford, Connecticut. Ms. Anastasia is admitted to the Connecticut bar. She received a B.S. from Tufts University and a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Ms. Anastasia currently holds the office of President of NAWL for 2015-2016. She previously served as President-Elect of NAWL for 2014-2015, and Vice President of NAWL for 2013-2014 and co-chair of NAWL’s Program Committee for 2013-2014. Ms. Anastasia was NAWL’s Treasurer in 2012-2013, a recipient of NAWL’s "Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member" Award in 2008, and served as Chair of the 2008 NAWL General Counsel Institute. She also serves on the University of Connecticut Law School Foundation Board of Trustees.

PRESIDENT-ELECT Leslie Richards-Yellen is a public finance attorney with over 30 years of experience as in-house counsel and in private practice. Ms. Richards-Yellen frequently serves as borrower’s, underwriter’s, issuer’s and work out counsel. In addition to her public finance practice at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, Ms. Richards-Yellen serves as the firm’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer and as Chair of its Diversity Committee. Prior to relocating to Chicago, Ms. Richards-Yellen was Associate General Counsel with The Vanguard Group, where she provided legal services and analysis for the Fixed Income Group. Ms. Richards-Yellen was a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers’ Steering Committee. In 2014, she was appointed to the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism (ISCCP) and serves as the Chair of the ISCCP's Diversity Committee. She is the Immediate Past Chair of the Board of the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms and sits on the Boards of NAWL and the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation, as well as the Advisory Board of the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession.

VICE PRESIDENT Angela Beranek Brandt is a Partner with Larson King, LLP in St. Paul, Minnesota. Ms. Brandt is an accomplished first chair trial lawyer and has earned favorable results for clients in front of juries, arbitrators, and judges. She practices in the areas of commercial litigation, employment law, and products liability. Ms. Brandt has served as co-chair of NAWL’s Program, Mentorship, and Membership Committees and has chaired a number of NAWL programs, including Backpack to Briefcase, Taking Charge of Your Career, and the 2013 Mid-Year Meeting. She also has served as the national chair of the NAWL Nights of Giving. In 2008, Ms. Brandt received the "Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member" Award from NAWL. In addition to her work with NAWL, Ms. Brandt is Past President of the Ramsey County Bar Association. She has been elected to membership in the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and American Board of Trial Advocates. Ms. Brandt has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” by Minnesota Law & Politics and is AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Her work with women is balanced out at home where she has three sons—a nine-year-old and six-year-old twins.

TREASURER Sarretta C. McDonough a member of the California Bar and a solicitor of England and Wales, regularly represents multinational clients in connection with competition and corruption issues around the globe. She is Of Counsel in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and a member of the firm’s Antitrust and Competition and White Collar Defense & Investigations Practice Groups. Ms. McDonough was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP before joining Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in 2007. Ms. McDonough received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.

TREASURER-ELECT Kristin D. Sostowski is a Director (Partner) with Gibbons P.C. in Newark, New Jersey, where she is a member of the firm’s Employment and Labor Law Department and E-Discovery Task Force. Ms. Sostowski provides strategic counsel to clients at all phases of the employment relationship, including compliance with federal and state workplace laws, pre-litigation risk avoidance, and defense of workplace-related disputes. She represents companies and managers in employment litigation in state and federal courts and agencies, with an emphasis on discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower and restrictive covenant matters. Ms. Sostowski currently serves as NAWL’s Treasurer-Elect, Board liaison to the Amicus Committee, and Co-Chair of the Pipeline to Equity Partnership program. She also serves as a Trustee-at-Large of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association. Ms. Sostowski is included in The Best Lawyers in America© 2016 for Litigation - Labor and Employment, was named to NJBIZ’s “Forty Under 40” list in 2014, and has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by New Jersey Super Lawyers since 2007. In 2010, she received NAWL’s "Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member" Award. Ms. Sostowski received her B.A. from Swarthmore College with High Honors and earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School.

SECRETARY Jennifer M. Guenther is General Counsel and Director for FCS International, Inc., a part of the ADEC Group of companies, for all U.S. and UK operations. As General Counsel, Ms. Guenther works with the corporate management teams across the ADEC Group on an international basis to ensure high quality standards and business practices, while assisting clients to develop sustainable business practices, environmental compliance, life-cycle analysis and assessment, and data management solutions. Ms. Guenther, a former shareholder with Gresham, Savage, Nolan & Tilden, where she worked for more than 13 years as an experienced litigation and land use attorney at the forefront of the development of environmental regulations in California. As a former litigator, Ms. Guenther addressed many environmental issues of first impression before the California courts, resulting in numerous published decisions related to land use, air quality assessments, greenhouse gases, and other key environmental issues. She has represented clients before the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in debarment proceedings and has assisted clients with compliance issues with the Army Corp of Engineers, Fish & Wildlife Services, and water quality control boards. Ms. Guenther has represented Fortune 500 companies, Community College Districts, and developers, as well as clients in mining, railroad, and transportation industries in controversial environmental, development, and litigation matters. She has appeared before local, state, and federal agencies, as well as the California Court of Appeals. Ms. Guenther is a past president of the San Bernardino County Bar Association, a past recipient of the "Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member" Award from NAWL, and she was listed as a Southern California Rising Star in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. She is a lecturer with the University of California, Riverside, teaching Environmental Law and Policy, and serves on local community boards. Ms. Guenther has a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Washington.

ASSISTANT SECRETARY Karen S. Morris is Vice President, General Counsel for USAA’s Property and Casualty Group, which offers property and casualty insurance products to members of the military and their families. As P&C General Counsel, Ms. Morris serves as the chief lawyer for P&C, and is responsible for providing legal counsel and guidance to the P&C President and his staff. She also leads the P&C Counsel team, which is responsible for providing solution-oriented counsel on all matters affecting USAA’s P&C business, from product conception through delivery and fulfillment. Prior to joining USAA in September 2010, Ms. Morris spent 21 years with Allstate Insurance Company, where she held a wide variety of positions in Law, Marketing, Corporate Relations and Strategy. Most recently, Ms. Morris was Assistant Vice President, Corporate Relations. In that position she led a team of professionals accountable for driving the company’s reputation, corporate advocacy and CEO executive positioning strategies. Prior to joining Allstate, Ms. Morris was in private practice in Chicago. She received a B.A. magna cum laude from St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota and a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law. Ms. Morris serves as a Member at Large on the NAWL Board of Directors.  She has been active with NAWL since 2008, serving as Vice Chair of the General Counsel Institute in 2010, Chair in 2012 and Sponsorship Chair in 2013. She received NAWL’s Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member Award in 2012.

IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT Lisa M. Passante was most recently Vice-President and Associate General Counsel at Thomson Reuters, where she served as the senior U.S.-based legal advisor to the Intellectual Property & Science business unit. Prior to joining Thomson Reuters, Ms. Passante was a member of the legal department of E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company for 19 years, where she served in a variety of capacities, including General Counsel for DuPont Performance Coatings through its transition from DuPont to a privately held company, and where she was the founder of the acclaimed DuPont Women Lawyers’ Network. Ms. Passante chaired the 2009 General Counsel Institute and co-chaired the 2011 and 2014 Mid-Year Meetings, and she has held multiple offices and committee leadership positions with NAWL. Ms. Passante was co-chair of the Delaware Bar Association Corporate Counsel Section from 2010 to 2013, and is a member of the Philadelphia Forum of Executive Women and the Delaware Valley chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel.  She is a graduate of the Villanova University School of Law.

Peggy Steif Abram is a Partner in the Corporate and Securities Practice Group in the Minneapolis office of Faegre Baker Daniels LLP. She advises clients on business matters, including corporate governance, compliance, SEC reporting, and major corporate transactions, and for the past several years has provided general counsel services for a Minnesota-based global technology manufacturer. Ms. Abram is President of the Faegre Baker Daniels Foundation, which funds social, cultural, and legal nonprofit organizations, and she chairs the firm’s Sponsorship Steering Group. She is a founding member of the firm’s Women’s Forum for Achievement, and a member of the Forum’s Leadership Council. Ms. Abram serves on the national U.S. Law Firm Group Corporate and Securities Committee. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Guthrie Theater and the Minnesota Breast Cancer Education Association. In 2013, she was honored with a “Women in Business” award from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. Ms. Abram graduated summa cum laude from Carleton College, earned her M.A. from The University of Chicago Divinity School, and received her J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband and is the proud mother of two daughters.

DeAnna D. Allen is a Partner in Cooley LLP’s Washington, D.C. office. Her practice focuses on patent litigation and she counsels clients in a variety of areas such as telecommunications, semiconductors, computer related technologies, and biotechnology. Ms. Allen serves as Chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee. She also co-chairs the Programs Committee of the Intellectual Property Subsection of the ABA Section of Litigation, and she is a member of AIPLA and the National Bar Association. Ms. Allen previously served as in-house counsel to Burger King Brands and as a design engineer for Florida Power & Light. She has received multiple Benchmark Litigation recognitions. Ms. Allen has been listed as one of the “Most Powerful and Influential Women” in the Washington, D.C. area (National Diversity Council, 2010), and “WomenWorthWatching®” (Profiles in Diversity Journal, 2015, 2009), and a member of the “Hot List” of “professional and entrepreneurial powerhouses under the age of 40” (Black Enterprise, 2007). In 2012–2013, she co-chaired NAWL’s Membership Committee and is currently the Board Liaison to NAWL’s Diversity Committee.

Diane E. Ambler  is a Partner in the Washington, D.C. office of K&L Gates LLP, practicing in the area of financial institution regulation under federal securities laws. She is a frequent speaker and writer in this area and has testified as an expert witness in her field. Ms. Ambler focuses her practice on mutual fund governance, compliance activities of mutual funds, private funds, and variable insurance product issuers and distributors, and activities of related service providers. She champions women’s leadership initiatives in the profession, including as a charter member of the K&L Gates Women in the Profession Committee. Chambers USA has ranked Ms. Ambler as a top lawyer practicing in the areas of Investment Funds, Registered Funds, and she is listed in Best Lawyers in America for Mutual Funds and Private Funds Law. Ms. Ambler has an AV® Peer Review Rating by Martindale- Hubbell, reserved for lawyers who have been recognized for having the highest levels of skill and integrity, and she is listed in the Martindale-Hubbell® Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers, exclusively for women attorneys who have received the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards from their peers. Kristin L. Bauer is a Shareholder with the Dallas office of the national workplace law firm, Jackson Lewis PC. Ms. Bauer represents management exclusively in workplace law and related litigation. In addition to handling an active employment litigation docket, she counsels management on preventive strategies, including termination decisions, investigations, employment agreements, non-compete issues, wage and hour laws, policies and handbooks, and other issues affecting the workplace. Ms. Bauer also advises employers on the numerous laws touching ill and injured workers, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and strategies to manage those risks. She has been recognized as a 2014 “Texas Super Lawyer” and seven times as a “Rising Star.” Ms. Bauer has served as pro bono general counsel to The Family Place, a Dallas-based nonprofit agency serving the victims of domestic violence and their families, since 2005. In 2012, Ms. Bauer received the "Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member" Award from NAWL.

Sandra Ng Cassidy is a seasoned financial services attorney with more than 20 years’ experience providing senior level business advice and counsel on a full range of legal matters that arise in connection with retail broker-dealers and investment advisers. Most recently, she was the Chief Legal Officer of Pruco Securities, LLC, the retail securities firm within the Prudential Financial enterprise. Her prior work experiences include the Securities and Exchange Commission, The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, Gruntal & Co., Shearson Lehman Hutton, and The Chicago Board Options Exchange. In 2013, NAWL honored Ms. Cassidy with the "Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member" Award. She is a graduate of Cornell University and received her J.D. from The National Law Center at George Washington University.

Jennifer A. Champlin  is a Director of HR for Walmart U.S., and she partners with business leaders in Merchandising and Health & Wellness to develop and execute HR business plans and advises business partners on a variety of HR issues, including but limited to performance management, talent planning, talent development, organizational effectiveness, and diversity & inclusion. Prior to this role, Ms. Champlin was an attorney in the Walmart Legal Department where she supported the company’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) investigative efforts. Prior to joining the FCPA team, Ms. Champlin was a member of the Employment Division of the Legal Department, and she partnered with company leadership and field management to provide legal advice on employment issues. She also managed the defense of employment litigation and administrative charges nationwide for Sam’s Club and the California employment litigation for Walmart U.S. Before joining Walmart, Ms. Champlin was a commercial litigator with specialized expertise in electronic discovery at Crowe & Dunlevy in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Before that, she was a white collar criminal defense attorney in the Boston office of Nixon Peabody LLP. Ms. Champlin has been actively involved in NAWL since 2010. She received the "Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member" Award from NAWL in 2013. Ms. Champlin co-chaired the 2015 Women's Initiative Leadership Boot Camp and is also helping to plan the upcoming Regional GCI in Minneapolis. Ms. Champlin is an avid Boston Red Sox fan and when not cheering for the Sox, she spends her time gleefully chasing after her two children, Grant (5) and Mallory (3), and volunteering on the Advisory Board of the collegiate chapter of Alpha Chi Omega at the University of Arkansas. She obtained her B.A. in English with honors from Oklahoma State University and her J.D. from Cornell Law School.

Lauri A. Damrell is an employment attorney at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. She has extensive experience in complex litigation and counseling, and is a thought leader on diversity in the workforce. California Governor Jerry Brown recently appointed her to serve as a Commissioner for the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. Ms. Damrell frequently writes and presents on diversity issues and was recently invited to speak at the U.S. Capitol regarding the Paycheck Fairness Act. Within her community, she has been featured by the Sacramento Business Journal for co-founding the Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association of Sacramento (MAMAS). At Orrick, Ms. Damrell serves as Deputy Chair of the firm's Women's Initiative and on the planning committee for Orrick's Women in Employment Law Network, which connects women employment lawyers and HR professionals from the nation's most successful companies, educational institutions, and law firms. Ms. Damrell received her J.D. from University of California Davis School of Law. She received the "Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member" Award in 2014.

Deborah S. Froling is Of Counsel at Kutak Rock LLP in the Washington, D.C. office. She has extensive experience in public and private offerings of debt, equity, and convertible securities as both issuer’s and underwriter’s counsel primarily for real estate companies. Ms. Froling has closed public and private debt and equity offerings, primarily for REITs and other real estate companies, as well as non-traded equipment finance and oil and gas companies, and business development companies. She has also structured and closed numerous tenant in common syndications and has worked with public and private company clients providing general corporate counseling and advising on periodic and annual reporting and other SEC disclosure requirements.  Prior to private practice, Ms. Froling served as an attorney-advisor in the Division of Corporation Finance at the Securities and Exchange Commission. She served two terms as a member of the Board of Directors of the Alternative and Direct Investment Securities Association and Chair of its Legislative and Regulatory Committee, and has previously served as President of the National Association of Women Lawyers and editor of The Women Lawyers Journal.

Sharon E. Jones is a lawyer by training and a diversity consultant who specializes in providing diversity/inclusion consulting and training to individuals, law firms, corporations and other types of organizations. She is the founder and President of Jones Diversity, Inc. She works to create diverse and inclusive workplace cultures. Her firm’s broad range of services enhance an organization’s competitive edge by enabling the organization to fully utilize, retain and promote diverse individuals into leadership roles.

Susan (Susie) L. Lees is Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Allstate Insurance Company and a member of Allstate’s senior leadership team. In her current role, Ms. Lees leads the legal team to guide Allstate’s business strategy, ensure sound compliance of government practices, and foster a healthy legal, legislative and regulatory environment. She joined Allstate in 1988 and has held a variety of leadership positions while successfully directing several key Allstate initiatives, most notably during her previous role as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Allstate Financial. During her extensive tenure at Allstate, Ms. Lees led a multitude of complex initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions such as the company’s purchase of American Heritage Life Insurance Company. As the leader of the corporate law division of Allstate’s law and regulation department, she gained extensive experience working with a number of business areas throughout the corporation. Earlier in her career, Ms. Lees built a foundation for business acumen through professional sales roles at Celanese Fibers Marketing Company and Exxon Chemical. She holds an A.B. in Political Science from Brown University and a J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Ms. Lees has been a champion of key societal issues and has served as a member of Allstate’s Enterprise Diversity Council. She is the past president of the Board of Directors for the Riverside Foundation, a nonprofit organization offering life enrichment opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities and a former member of the Board of Directors for the Association of Life Insurance. In addition to sitting on the Board of NAWL, she serves on the boards of the Rand Institute for Civil Justice, the Institute for Legal Reform and the National Network to End Domestic Violence. Ms. Lees’ story is one of challenge and accomplishment, having started her career as a part-time lawyer balancing personal demands with professional expectations and successfully forging a path to the highest levels of corporate law. Her involvement with NAWL underscores her personal commitment to empower more women to pursue a successful career in the law. Ms. Lees has worked to not only promote the mere fact that more women are practicing law, but to celebrate women’s unique contributions to the profession.

Elizabeth A. Levy is Counsel at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She advises faculty, students, and administration on all aspects of intellectual property matters including copyrights, technology transfer and ownership, licensing, protection, infringement, and enforcement of IP rights and serves on MIT's Committee on Intellectual Property. She also serves as a hearing officer for the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers. Ms. Levy graduated with honors from Suffolk University Law School and the University of Texas. She is an experienced mechancial engineer and registered patent attorney. She was a partner at McDermott Will & Emery before taking in-house legal positions at Bayer Corporation and Siemens Healthcare. She chaired NAWL's 7th General Counsel Institute and its first Night of Giving in Boston. She led GCI8's sponsorship team and serves on NAWL's Sustaining Sponsorship Committee. She is a mentor in NAWL's mentoring program and received the "Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member" Award in 2013.

Suzan (Sam) A. Miller is Corporate Secretary, Vice President, and Deputy General Counsel of Intel Corporation and manages the Intel worldwide Corporate Legal Group. Since joining Intel in 1991, she has held a number of positions including General Counsel of Intel Capital and Vice President of the Business Legal Group. Ms. Miller is the executive sponsor for the Santa Clara Women at Intel Network, a member of Intel's Network of Executive Women Leaders, the executive sponsor of Intel’s Legal Diversity program, and is on the Board of NAWL and the Board of Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA). She also oversees Intel’s Legal Pro Bono Programs, and is an active pro bono participant in the community and holds board positions on the Santa Clara Law Foundation and Silicon Valley Campaign for Legal Services. Prior to joining Intel, Ms. Miller worked for the law firms of Irell & Manella and Morrison & Foerster. She received her B.S. from Bryn Mawr College and her J.D. from Santa Clara University.

Leslie D. Minier is a Partner and the Chief Diversity Officer at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP. She has extensive experience representing both private and public companies in mergers and acquisitions, venture financing, and general corporate matters. Ms. Minier represents buyers and sellers in structuring, negotiating, and documenting acquisitions including stock purchases, asset sales, tax-free mergers, and leveraged recapitalizations. She is the co-chair of Katten's Diversity Committee. She has a strong commitment to public service and holds leadership positions with several organizations including the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms, the Coalition of Women's Initiatives in Law, Chicago United, and the Joffrey Ballet. Ms. Minier received her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law. Additionally, she earned her M.S. in Management from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management and her M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She also received her B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tuskegee University.

Suzette Recinos leads Daymon Worldwide’s global legal team as Chief Legal Officer and Secretary. Daymon Worldwide is the global leader in consumables retailing. Through Daymon’s renowned industry expertise in Private Brand building, experiential consumer marketing and innovative retail-driven services, it currently collaborates with more than 100 major retailers and nearly 6,000 manufacturers in 50 countries.  Daymon teams work directly with the world's leading suppliers and retailers to create and market ownable, differentiated brands in the marketplace that deliver exceptional value, drive consumer loyalty and profitable sales growth, and improve people's lives. Prior to Daymon, Suzette worked at Pitney Bowes Inc. as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. During her tenure at Pitney Bowes, Suzette served as the lead attorney for several of its business units globally, as well as having her hand in numerous other areas of the corporate legal practice, including software licensing, transnational transactions and advising senior management on securities law matters. Before joining Pitney Bowes, Suzette served as an associate at two different law firms: Edwards, Angell, Palmer & Dodge LLP in Stamford, CT, and Kutak Rock LLP in Kansas City, MO. Suzette was named a Top Lawyer Under 40 by the Hispanic National Bar Association in 2009, and is a regular speaker at both American Bar Association and Hispanic National Bar Association events. She is a Corporator of First County Bank in Stamford, CT, and serves on the board of directors of the Fairfield County Community Foundation and the National Association of Women Lawyers. Suzette earned her JD degree from the University of Iowa College of Law, and her BM in Music from the University of Iowa.

Carol A. Robles-Román is the President and CEO of Legal Momentum, The Women’s Legal Defense and Education Fund, a national organization that advances the rights of women and girls. In this role she creates public-private partnerships that promote gender equality for women and girls. Recently, Legal Momentum has represented women who were subjected to workplace and pregnancy discrimination, and sexual assault, and has formally called for elected officials to respond forcefully to the scourge of domestic violence. Carol is a 2015 Ford Public Voices Fellow. The Public Voices Fellowship is part of a national initiative to dramatically increase the public impact of our nation's top underrepresented thought leaders. She was recently appointed by NYC Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito to the Steering Committee of the  NYC Council Young Women’s Initiative, a first-of-its-kind initiative to combat inequality facing young women in NYC.  Carol was also selected to serve as a Global Ambassador in Japan, October 2015.  The Global Ambassadors Program, a Vital Voices and Bank of America partnership, connects women leaders with established women executives for mentorship. Carol was Deputy Mayor for Legal Affairs and Counsel to Mayor Michael Bloomberg for 12 years. She was the first woman to serve as Counsel to a New York City Mayor. She spearheaded public-private partnerships on behalf of vulnerable communities including women and children in the areas of domestic violence, enforcement of anti-discrimination laws, human trafficking and young people, diversity, and judicial selection. She led the city's efforts to combat domestic violence and human trafficking through the creation of Family Justice Centers in all five boroughs. She led the multimedia public awareness campaign Let’s Call an End to Human Trafficking. She also increased ethnic, gender, and geographic diversity among mayoral appointments to the city's Family, Criminal and interim Civil Court judgeships. Carol is a nationally known public speaker and appears regularly in the media, speaking about national and international trends in the law and courts, women’s rights, immigration, human trafficking, and domestic violence.  She is a member of New York’s New Abolitionists, a campaign launched by the Sanctuary for Families and the New York State Anti-Trafficking Coalition to end human trafficking in New York State and across the globe. Carol has been widely recognized for her work, receiving awards including the National Women’s Political Caucus’ 2015 Women of Courage Award and the SmartCEO 2014 Brava Award. She was designated one of the “100 Most Influential Hispanics” by Hispanic Business Magazine in 2011. A lifelong New Yorker, Carol holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she received the Vanderbilt Medal for extraordinary contribution to the law school community, and a B.A. from Fordham University at Lincoln Center.

Jenny Waters is the Executive Director of NAWL. As such, she manages the operations of the organization, including financial and sponsorship, brand management, membership and volunteer engagement, the HR and risk management functions, and development and implementation of the strategic plan. Before joining NAWL, Ms. Waters was a partner at Schopf & Weiss, a Chambers-ranked commercial litigation boutique in Chicago, She litigated matters on behalf of multi-national Fortune 500 companies, closely held corporations, and executives operating in a broad spectrum of industries. She was named one of Super Lawyers' Rising Stars from 2008-2014. Ms. Waters served on the Executive Committee and as chair of various committees of the Coalition of Women's Initiatives in Law and received its 2014 Leadership Award. She also serves on the Board of the Hinsdale Community Preschool and coaches soccer for a group of attention-challenged four-year-olds.
