Elizabeth Mendoza advises companies at the forefront of AI, immersive technology, and social media. Liz works at the cross section of privacy and intellectual privacy, guiding clients through global product launches and at all stages of the product life cycle. She counsels entrepreneurs, startups, and large companies on privacy compliance, technology licensing, AI governance, and development across various sectors, including e-commerce, social media, augmented reality, virtual reality (VR), mixed reality, interactive entertainment, and retail and consumer products.
Elizabeth was the 2017 Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) Fellow at Perkins Coie. During her fellowship, Elizabeth researched the emerging legal issues arising from the proliferation of AI/ML products, including issues related to privacy, automated decision-making, algorithmic discrimination, algorithmic collusion, and ML product liability.
As an associate, Elizabeth was seconded to the Oculus metaverse content team assisting on premium content deals and global VR product launches. She was also seconded to Meta’s extended reality (XR) team working on issues related to AI/ML data and model development.
Prior to Perkins, Elizabeth clerked for the Hon. Richard C. Tallman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
