Jana Gaffaney is Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for General Mills’ North America Retail and Pet businesses, where she leads legal support for two major business segments and serves as a strategic adviser to senior leadership. She counsels the business on complex strategic, regulatory, and operational matters, including food and advertising law, product liability, intellectual property, antitrust, M&A, compliance, and significant litigation.

In her current role, Jana is focused on modernizing legal support and advancing the responsible use of AI tools—including Harvey AI and internal enterprise tools—to help legal teams work more efficiently, manage risk, and deliver greater strategic value.

Jana has more than 20 years of legal experience, including more than a decade in-house at General Mills and earlier practice in complex commercial litigation. Her General Mills roles have included general counsel for the company’s Pet and International businesses and Legal Director for Northern Europe, giving her experience across U.S. and international markets. She previously served as President of General Mills’ Women’s Leadership Network, the company’s largest employee network. Jana earned her J.D. summa cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law.
