La-Toya P. Hackney is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Saint-Gobain North America. In this capacity, she leads the North American law, government affairs and environmental compiance department, serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Saint-Gobain North America and as Co-Executive Sponsor of Saint-Gobain’s multicultural employee resource group, LEAD. Founded over 350 years ago, Saint-Gobain is a Global Fortune 500 company. With over 170,000 employees globally and annual revenues of approximately $46B, Saint-Gobain is one of the world’s leaders in the building materials industry. In 2021 and 2024, La-Toya was honored at the Pennsylvania Legal Awards as a recipient of the GC Impact Award and was included in Savoy Magazine’s list of the Most Influential Black Lawyers in the country for 2022. In 2023 she was ranked as #13 on Empower’s Executive Role Model List of 100 leading global executives championing diversity and inclusion and as #11 for 2024. In 2025 and 2026, La-Toya was recognized in Chambers and Partners rankings of leading in-house lawyers. In 2026, La-Toya was honored by The Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia with the Justice Juanita Kidd Stout Woman of Distinction Award.
Prior to joining Saint-Gobain in September of 2020, La-Toya served as Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer of TE Connectivity. She led a global team responsible for TE’s ethics and compliance programs. The team worked closely with TE’s executive management, the Office of the Ombudsman, Internal Audit and the Board of Directors to implement programs that drove a values-based ethics and compliance culture throughout the Company. She also served as Co-Chair of TE’s African Heritage Employee Resource Group. Prior to leading the TE compliance team, La-Toya was Assistant General Counsel for the Company’s Automotive Business Unit in North America as well as counsel to TE’s Global Trade Services Team. La-Toya joined TE in 2012 as TE’s lead commercial counsel for the Global Distribution Business until 2015. During that time, she also served as lead counsel for TE’s Global Marketing and Communications Team.
La-Toya began her career as an Associate in the Corporate & Securities department of Dechert LLP, followed by several years with Sunoco, Inc. where she ultimately served as Chief Counsel of its Retail Fuels business. During her years at Sunoco, she was recognized for her dedication to clients selected for various leadership programs and served as a charter member of its Women’s Employee Resource Group.
A native of North Philadelphia, La-Toya earned her law degree from Harvard Law School in 1999. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and African-American Studies with honors from Stanford University in 1996, where she was a Mellon Foundation Fellow and Rhodes Scholar nominee. In 2020, La-Toya served as co-chair of the Global Philadelphia Association World Heritage Gala, celebrating the 5th anniversary of Philadelphia as a World Heritage City. In addition to extensive mentoring, she serves on the boards of the Philadelphia Education Fund and WHYY, the PBS and NPR public media affiliate for the Greater Philadelphia area as well as the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
