Preetha’s experience spans all areas of intellectual property and brand protection, including advertising and media, litigation, counseling, licensing, transactional due diligence, and trademark prosecution. She leverages this experience to offer clients creative solutions for protecting their assets, maximizing value, and managing risks.

Companies trust Preetha’s guidance when advertising environmental, social, and governance related claims, including claims about carbon offsets, greenwashing, bluewashing, wokewashing, waste reduction, and recycling. From food and beverage, fashion, media, and telecommunications to technology and consumer products, she provides targeted, industry specific counsel to help clients achieve their business objectives. 

Pro bono work is a cornerstone of Preetha’s practice, spanning appellate, immigration, family, and employment law cases as well as IP counseling for nonprofit entities. She successfully represented Sandra Avery, a woman sentenced to life in prison for a nonviolent, low-level drug crime who sought commutation of her sentence from President Barack Obama, reducing her life sentence to time served. Preetha currently co-chairs the firm’s Public Service Committee, and she received the firm’s 2015 George Bailey Award for her pro bono contributions. From 2023 to 2026, Preetha served on The City of New York Mayor’s Advisory Committee on the Judiciary, which works to recruit and encourage diverse and highly qualified persons to serve as a judge of the Criminal, Family, or Civil Court.   

Preetha also co-chairs the firm’s Lawyer Development Committee, where she is responsible for overseeing the review and development process for all the firm’s associates and counsel. And she serves on the firm’s Talent Development Committee, which assists in formulating policies on associate/counsel development and compensation issues.

Preetha’s interdisciplinary legal practice is informed by her involvement with LawWithoutWalls, a part-virtual collaboration that develops problem-solving and project management business skills necessary to provide effective legal services in today’s global, multidisciplinary, and cross-cultural marketplace; as well as her 2015 selection as a Pathfinder by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, a national organization comprising the legal profession’s top general counsels and managing partners. In addition, she is a board member of the National Center for Youth Law and an advisory board member (and former chair) for the Urban Assembly School for Leadership and Empowerment.
