Sonja Carlson is Senior Corporate Counsel in Microsoft’s Cloud + Artificial Intelligence legal organization and Microsoft’s External Lead to NAWL. She leads support of the multi-billion dollar Dynamics 365 business, advising on a range of cutting-edge technologies and issues, including AI, data use and privacy, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property. The portfolio Sonja supports includes Dynamics Customer Service, Contact Center, Sales, and Marketing—this business is rapidly transforming into an AI-first product portfolio driven by autonomous AI agents, many of which are integrated into voice call and digital messaging communication services. Previously, Sonja supported Microsoft’s global sales group on complex strategic deals and was an associate at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP, focused on mergers and acquisitions. She received her BA in Economics from Columbia University and JD summa cum laude from Seattle University School of Law, where she served as Editor in Chief of the Seattle Journal for Social Justice.
