Teresa Hutson is Corporate Vice President and General Counsel for the Technology and Services Group at Microsoft where she leads legal support for the company’s regulatory, compliance, engineering, sales, and marketing functions. She advises on what and how the company builds, how it sells and markets, and how it complies with law. As a strategic partner to leaders across the business, Teresa helps Microsoft move at the speed of innovation while earning and maintaining the trust of customers, partners, and regulators around the world. Her organization translates law and policy into practical guidance and scalable frameworks that help teams bring products and services to market responsibly, navigate complex geopolitical challenges, and pursue the opportunities that will shape the company’s future. 


Teresa also serves as Executive Sponsor of the Women in CELA Inclusion Network, championing the advancement, mentorship, and representation of women across the legal and corporate affairs community at Microsoft. Through this work, she helps foster a culture in which diverse perspectives strengthen decision-making, leadership, and long-term organizational success.


Beyond Microsoft, Teresa serves on the boards of the Seattle Metro Chamber of Commerce and Business for Social Responsibility. These roles reflect her commitment to advancing local civic and community engagement in Puget Sound and to addressing critical challenges in communities around the world. 



Previously, Teresa served as Corporate Vice President for Technology for Fundamental Rights, leading efforts to broaden the benefits of technology while mitigating potential harms. Earlier in her career at Microsoft, she was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for the HR Legal Group, overseeing immigration, employment law, and compliance. Before joining Microsoft, Teresa practiced law at Paul Hastings LLP. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Textual Studies from Syracuse University and a J.D. from Cornell Law School. She is a native of upstate New York and a devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills.
