Marilou is a highly sought-after professional coach with 30+ years guiding leaders in legal, healthcare, and life sciences. She understands the pressures you face because she has lived them, bringing real-world expertise to unlock potential and drive breakthrough results.
Before dedicating herself fully to coaching, Marilou built a distinguished career working with professionals at the highest levels of responsibility. Her journey began in healthcare, where she worked as a clinical pharmacist in hospital settings before transitioning into clinical research within the pharmaceutical industry. Driven to further integrate her scientific background, she later pursued law and became a patent attorney in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology space in both a law firm and in-house corporate setting.
This uncommon combination of healthcare, law, and corporate experience gives Marilou a rare, firsthand understanding of the pressure, complexity, and decision-making demands faced by executives, attorneys, healthcare leaders, and entrepreneurs in high-stakes environments.
Marilou believes transformation begins with trust. Her coaching philosophy centers on creating a safe, grounded space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. She blends strategic thinking with genuine empathy, helping clients identify their strengths, uncover opportunities for growth, and translate insight into clear, actionable steps forward.
What coaching services do you provide?
I provide one on one personal and/or professional coaching, as well as coaching for startup businesses.
What services do you provide in addition to coaching?
My coaching at times requires that I provide services beyond coaching, depending on the needs of my clients. For instance, I have provided résumé review, interview prep as well as project presentation reviews. I have provided these aspects of my services to help the individual or business achieve the goal at hand.
What is your coaching philosophy?
I measure my success by the success of my clients. Each client needs and deserves to be seen and heard before suggesting a path forward to their goal. I have found that is the best way to more accurately provide the feedback and guidance that is needed for success.
What interests or excites you about coaching women lawyers?
I could probably write a book to answer this question. As a female attorney who has been able to successfully navigate my educational pursuits, my various career interests while balancing the nurturing and advocacy of my children and family, I am no stranger to the myriad of issues that women face in particular while doing any and all of the above.
Tell us about your training and certifications as a coach.
I have been a certified professional coach for two years through the Academy Of Creative Coaching. I am also ICF eligible. However, during my 30 years of practice as a pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent attorney, I have coached many individuals, both lawyers and scientists, as they navigated their respective careers. I did this for attorneys at my law firm as well as for individuals outside of my firm. I have also been asked to speak to groups (e.g., the Mandela Washington Fellowship program through the US Department of State and Charting Your Own Course Leadership Conference) as a keynote or on a panel for various organizations over the past two decades.
