“I’m incredibly honored and grateful to the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) for recognizing me with the Outstanding Law Student Award. As an immigrant from Guyana and the eldest of four, I was raised with a deep commitment to service and community, i.e., values my mother instilled in me despite financial hardship. Over the past 13 years in the U.S., I’ve continued to live by those principles, working to uplift others and advance equality—especially for women and children. This recognition is especially meaningful as I prepare to commission as a U.S. Army JAG Officer after passing the bar. Thank you, NAWL, for this incredible honor.”
