“I am honored to be the chosen recipient of this award by Campbell University School of Law. This award serves as a reminder that with Christ, hard work, and unyielding determination, achieving one's goals is possible. This is the mindset I adopted at a very young age as I watched the most important women in my life, my mom, grandmother (Nana), and great-grandmother (Grandma), exemplify this principle in the way they lived. Through observation, I learned that the journey toward a goal may not be linear or simple, but if you view the goal as a calling, you must pursue it steadfastly. Being an attorney is a calling for me, and it has been my goal since I was seven years old. My journey to where I am today has included unforeseen obstacles and disappointing setbacks, but through Christ, hard work, and unyielding determination, I am now a lawyer and soon to be an attorney. My post-graduation plans are to immerse myself in preparing for the North Carolina bar exam. After that, I look forward to practicing law as a civil litigator.”
