Karen M. Richardson is the Executive Director of the National Association of Women Lawyers. As such, she manages the strategic direction and operations of the organization, including finance and sponsorship, brand management, membership and volunteer engagement, the HR and risk management functions, and the development and implementation of the strategic plan. Karen has a passion for NAWL’s mission and will continue and expand on its 120-year legacy, leading its continued efforts to advance diversity and inclusion in the profession and expanding our advocacy in the areas of judicial representation and gender rights. Karen served as NAWL's long-time program director and before rejoining NAWL in 2019, was a business development coach for a mid-sized, full-service law firm in Chicago. Rachel Diamond is the Program Director at the National Association of Women Lawyers.  As such, she works with a group of talented and assionate lawyer volunteers to plan and execute programming including NAWL's Annual Meeting, Mid-Year Meeting, General Counsel Institute and regional conferences, which incorporate continuing legal education, networking opportunities, charitable partnerships, and leadership development for thousands of members. Prior to joining NAWL, Ms. Diamond spent almost 2 decades as a lawyer advocating on behalf of women and children in the areas of family law, domestic violence, sexual assault, education, child welfare, adoption, and guardianships.  She also spent time at the American Bar Association Commission on Domestic Violence and Center on Children and the Law where she managed events, webinars, and professional development for lawyers and other professionals on a variety of legal issues.  Ms. Diamond received her J.D. from Loyola University College of Law and her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana.  She can be reached at 312-988-6729 or


Helena B. Rogers is the Membership Engagement Manager at the National Association of Women Lawyers. Ms. Rogers leads the strategic planning, project management, and execution of NAWL’s membership outreach and engagement work. She is responsible for ensuring that all members of NAWL are fully engaged through its Practice Area Affinity Groups, Book Club, and other opportunities. She is also responsible for leading the Membership and Mentorship committees. Ms. Rogers graduated from North Park University with a degree in Business Administration. Ashley B. Urisman is the Marketing & Development Manager at the National Association of Women Lawyers. She is responsible for oversight of all programmatic and association marketing and serves as NAWL’s media relations contact. Ashley also oversees NAWL’s development activities, including managing all sponsor relationships. Ashley determines sustaining and event sponsorship offerings, such as pricing, benefits, and outreach and she establishes benchmarks for sponsorship levels year-over-year to track progressions and trends. Ashley joins NAWL with more than five years of professional fundraising and non-profit development experience, including work at a professional association. Asha Smith is the marketing coordinator at the National Association of Women Lawyers. She implements organization-wide and project-based marketing strategies including email, social media, and the website. She received her B.A. in Law and Society from The American University. Prior to joining NAWL, Ms. Smith served as a City Year Americorps member in Washington, DC. Ms. Smith is passionate about social justice and enjoys traveling. She can be reached at 312.932.6450 or


Isabell Retamoza is National Association of Women Lawyers' administrative coordinator. She is an integral member of the small, but mighty NAWL team and provides support to NAWL Staff, Board, and Members by handling a variety of tasks in order to ensure that all interactions between the organization and others are positive and productive. Though in the early stage of her career, Isabell joins NAWL with a strong customer service background, nonprofit experience, and a passion for empowering women and people of color.  She received her B.A. in Literature and Feminist Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She can be reached at 312.988.6748 or
