As a first-generation South Asian American and first-generation lawyer, this recognition is not only for me, but for my entire family, many of whom are celebrating with me from across the world. I remember when I was a little girl, telling my late grandfather in India that I was going to be a lawyer someday, so this moment is very profound and full-circle. I also know that I would not have gotten this far without the mentors who have lifted me up along the way, many of whom are incredible women leading and shaping this profession. I have learned how important mentorship, community, and connection are in the practice of law. I believe that we only go far when we go together, and I hope to continue to embrace the spirit of NAWL throughout my life to open doors for the women after me. After graduation, I will be joining Rivero Mestre LLP in Miami, where I look forward to beginning my career in complex commercial litigation and international arbitration.”
