Testimonials

“All I can say is don’t miss out on the chance to get motivated and inspired by the community of professional friends you will encounter at the NAWL Annual Meeting!”

“Attending NAWL’s Annual Meeting checks all the boxes that I want in a conference: top-notch speakers, compelling CLE content, friendly atmosphere conducive to making business contacts and new friends, all combined with fun activities, excellent food and accommodations! Chicago couldn’t be more perfect in July!”

"I walked out of the meeting having made meaningful connections, some of which I am confident will become life-long friendships. As a first-generation attorney, I deeply understand the value of mentorship and representation, which is why I can't understate the importance of organizations such as this one."

"Conferences are boring. No one really wants to be there--the awkward interactions, pretend interest in what the other person is saying, cheesy ice-breakers...Not the NAWL Annual Meeting! Being in a room full of badass, fascinating women who want to support other women and who are genuinely interested in getting to know one another was beyond energizing."

"As a first time attendee, I felt so comfortable and necessary to the organization by just how wonderfully all of the ladies welcomed me in and immediately began thinking of a place for me. It is an organization that I am grateful I was introduced to and they put on an event that left me feeling included, motivated and extremely full of hope!"

“Meeting incredible and inspiring people from various fields was truly invigorating. The resources provided, like an open, centralized meeting place and dedicated mother's room, made the event welcoming and accommodating. It was an opportunity to grow, connect, and enjoy every moment!”

“High energy, great speakers, and fantastic opportunity to meet lots of attorneys across the legal ecosystem.”

“Last year’s Annual Meeting was my first NAWL in-person event and it was an amazing experience--especially getting to meet so many inspiring women in person after only connecting virtually. Grateful for the NAWL community! In a profession that sometimes feels isolating, connection is so important. I highly recommend attending!”

“The program was fantastic, with engaging speakers and interesting and relevant topics, including developing a personal brand, recent Supreme Court decisions and their impacts going forward, and the role media plays in the legal world today. We met awesome attorneys, got to share our different experiences, and gained so much in such a short time. Looking forward to continuing my involvement in NAWL and can’t wait for future NAWL events!”

Ten Things That Kept Lawyers Awake in 2026

If 2026 has proved anything, it’s that the law still has the power to surprise. From sudden privacy rules to shifting labor standards, headline-making court decisions, the year has already thrown lawyers a series of curveballs.

This session counts down the ten developments that caused the biggest stir, explains why they mattered, and highlights what they’ve taught us about adapting under pressure. By the end, participants will know which issues are fading and which are likely to define practice well into 2027.

Justice in a Hurry: The Supreme Court’s Emergency Docket

The U.S. Supreme Court has increasingly used its emergency docket to issue decisions on urgent matters—often without full briefing, oral argument, or detailed opinions.

This session explores how this expedited process is shaping legal strategy and advocacy. Panelists will discuss the practical implications for lawyers appearing before the Court, the procedural dynamics of emergency relief, and how this evolving practice affects transparency and predictability in the judicial process.

Who Leads Next? Succession in the Legal Profession

Firms and legal departments are confronting a leadership gap as fewer young lawyers pursue traditional management roles. This session examines what the data shows about generational expectations, how organizations are rethinking succession, and where new leadership models are emerging. With insights from researchers and current leaders, attendees will come away with a grounded understanding of how the profession is adapting to keep its leadership pipeline strong.

The New Rules of Work: From Noncompetes to AI

The workplace is changing faster than many rules can keep up. In 2026, courts, agencies, and legislatures are rewriting the law on noncompetes, gig work, pay transparency, and artificial intelligence in the workplace.

This session looks ahead to how these fights are redefining employer–employee relationships and shifting expectations in every industry. Moderators will spotlight the disputes driving these changes and what they reveal about the future of work, giving participants practical insight into how to prepare for what’s next.
