Affinity Groups- Logo .png

The National Association of Women Lawyers' Practice Area Affinity Groups provide a forum for members to dive more deeply into a substantive practice area and network with women who share that practice area. Practice Area Affinity Group activities can include substantive programming, either in-person or via webinar, regular discussions on hot topics, or networking opportunities. Practice Area Affinity Groups also serve as a forum for information sharing on best practices and recommendations. NAWL regularly designates part of its in-person events as a time for Practice Area Affinity Group members to network among themselves. If you are interested in starting an Affinity Group, please email at nawl@nawl.org.

Women in Compliance

The purpose of the NAWL Women in Compliance Practice Area Affinity Group is to connect and serve as a resource for women who currently practice, or are interested in practicing in this area, either in-house or in private practice. Human Resources used to be the place where women leaders were found in a company, but now, women are also in the Chief Compliance Officer role, which can be a great training ground for a step into a General Counsel role. In this group we will share experiences and strategies for being successful in a compliance role, and discuss issues and challenges that women may face. We anticipate hosting events and programs to connect our members, garner new membership, and stay abreast of current compliance trends.

Women in Corporate Transactions

NAWL's Women in Corporate Transactions Practice Area Affinity Group aims to connect women lawyers practicing in the various facets of transactional law to advance our professional growth and keep one another informed about important changes and developments in the law related to corporations, finance, and securities. Whether in-house in an entrepreneurial environment, as part of a large corporate structure, or in private practice, the issues we face in a corporate transactional practice are multifaceted. Some of us are specialists in mergers & acquisitions, project finance, securities, or corporate restructuring while others are some combination and/or commercial generalists. The thing that connects us all is doing deals - deals to develop new companies or projects; deals to grow companies and keep them moving; and deals to help companies navigate through change. We will host events and webinars to connect our members, share information, and encourage other women to explore the various types of corporate transactional practices. We welcome women from all branches of corporate transactional practices, whether in-house or in private practice.
