Speaker Resources
Thank you for sharing your expertise at an upcoming NAWL program!
We developed this “NAWL-ifying” resource to help you and your content connect with the NAWL audience. Feel free to reach out to the volunteer Session Coordinator(s) for your session with any additional questions.

Designing Your Session
Generally, the NAWL audience is made up of mid-level to senior attorneys. Information should be shared at a more advanced level with the assumption that the audience is familiar with the basics or introductory level information.
Presentations that most resonate with the NAWL audience share information that is relevant both to the professional and personal sides of our audience (for example, a topic on AI that talks about the legal aspects as well as personal impacts as a consumer).
When determining your presentation method, we encourage you to prioritize learning by experience (case studies, stories, hypotheticals, demonstrations), learning by reflecting (small group discussions, rhetorical questions), or learning by applying (mock exercises, devising action plans, problem solving activities).
Please avoid talking head panels on abstract ideas or general principles. We've found our audience doesn’t remember facts alone; they remember stories, activities, and problems they solved.

Your Session Coordinator(s) will work with you in designing your session.
Once the format is determined, they’ll also assist in:
- developing a session outline/agenda,
- creating any supporting materials (required if applying for CLE credit),
- and ensuring we have your headshot and bio.
Please consider using our template as you work through the planning for your session:
Room Setup
These are our standard room setups for sessions:
Mainstage sessions
- Presenters on a raised stage with soft seating
- Audience seated at half-set round tables
- Projector and screen available.
Concurrent workshops
- Presenters at front of room with soft seating (room size determines if there is space available for a raised stage)
- We encourage you to get creative with the audience seating setup (Tables in a U-shape or small round tables work great). The default audience setup will be either classroom or theater, as space allows.

Additional Presenter Benefits
Conference Registration
As a benefit of presenting at a NAWL conference, we encourage you to use your complimentary ticket to attend the full event, not just your session. This access helps you to connect with our audience outside of your session and better understand how your session relates to the overall content of the conference.
Your Session Coordinator(s) will reach out with information on how to register using your comp ticket. Note, typically transportation and accommodation related to an in-person NAWL conference are your responsibility. Your Session Coordinator can also provide details about NAWL’s discounted room block.
Speaker Resource Center
Your Session Coordinator(s) will provide a link to access the Speaker Resource Center. This is where you will agree to the Speaker Release Form and upload your headshot and bio so it's available to our audience through the event app.
